Rachel Thompson

Author Interview – Kachina Riley

What writing are you most proud of? My book Tattered Phoenix which is a published memoir of my troubled  early life, highlighting the struggles,  joys and love that have brought me to who I am today.

What genre do you love to read? I very much enjoy Si-Fi  novels that deal with space exploration because they stretch my mind into the unknown possibilities.

What do you hope your obituary say about you? She was a loving, caring human being.

Location and life experiences can really influence writing.  Tell us where you grew up and where you live now. I grew up in a small farming community of Copley, OH.  Leaving home at 18 to go to college in Massachusetts was the beginning of many years living and working in various states.  I have recently relocated back to Norton, OH to be with the love of my life.

Where do you get your inspiration from? I get inspiration from the memories of my childhood and the strength from which I had to cope with them.

What is the hardest – getting published, writing, or marketing? All of these present a formidable challenge but marketing has been my greatest challenge.

What marketing works for you? I have found that personal presentations of my book, especially at local public libraries has been personally fulfilling and rewarding.

Is your family supportive?  Do your friends support you?Absolutely.  I have the greatest family going. My friends are completely supportive and have read my book.
