Author Interview – Filipa Fonseca Silva

Who is your publisher? The English editions of my books are self-published, but in Portugal my publisher is Oficina do Livro, one of the biggest.

What was the hardest part about writing this book? Living up to my readers expectations

Will you write others in this same genre? Yes I will!

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp? Don’t spend your life living up to other people’s expectations.

How much of the book is realistic? A lot.

Have you included a lot of your life experiences, even friends, in the plot? Yes I did. I’m always telling my friends to be careful with what they tell me, as it might end up in one of my books.

Have you started another book yet? Not yet. I’m overwhelmed with the book promotion. So far I only have notes. But I might publish a children’s book I wrote several years ago.

Are you reading any interesting books at the moment? Yes. I’m reading a beautiful book by Portuguese author Afonso Cruz. Unfortunately there’s no English version, as in Portugal publishers don’t invest in exporting new authors. That’s why I invested in translating my books and self-publish them.

Do you have any advice for writers? Keep writing and find a good editor. Their contribute is precious.

Do you have any specific last thoughts that you want to say to your readers? I hope you like my new book and share it with your friends

What do you do to unwind and relax? I do yoga and bodyboard.

When you wish to end your career, stop writing, and look back on your life, what thoughts would you like to have? I gave back, through my books, all the wisdom the world gave me.
