Follow Your Dreams, a.k.a., Work Your Butt Off For What You Are Passionate About by Yvonne Jones

Don’t follow the money, but chase the honey!  No, really!  If you have the luxury to choose what you’ll do every day, why not choose something you’ll like (dare I say ‘love’) doing every day?  Don’t get me wrong, it won’t be any less work, or any less challenging.  But at least you’ll be able to enjoy and appreciate every single sweat-drenched step you’ll have to take while ascending that entrepreneurial ladder.

Following your dreams is not naivety at its best. For some, it might seem and sound that way. But it’s actually really hard work. Not only do you have to deal with the more traditional obstacles faced by most entrepreneurs; but you also have to prove to countless skeptics that, while following your dreams, you are not dreaming. You are wide awake, pumping every ounce of your oxygenated blood into your head to get that brain working. Wide awake when you stay up night after night to get that idea of yours down onto paper, transformed into reality. Wide awake when you start doubting yourself because free time just doesn’t seem to exist any longer, because it’s all being sucked up by your desire to finish your project, design, or mission.

Take what you know or like, learn more about it, expand on it, and use it! I made use of this very concept. I realized a need, added my knowledge and desire to help, and created something meant to support others within our military community. It gave me a sense of accomplishment. Not because it makes money, but because I felt fulfilled and challenged throughout the entire creation process.

Be it writing for a blog, working on your own book, or establishing your own little shop on places like Etsy. Do it. Just do it! Find and fill that niche – your niche. If you have a great idea, act on it! Implement it. Don’t wait. You’ll have to be the one taking that first step. Nobody else will or can take it for you.

Whatever your undertaking, whatever your dream, believe in it! Nothing worth pursuing was, is or ever will be easy. We are a wonderful breed of people. Whatever we set our mind to, we can accomplish.

Dream big, work hard, then work some more, my friend! And it’ll take you far!
